There is something about seeing Christmas lights that brings a sense of peace and joy. The vibrant points of light stand out in contrast against the darkness around them and can be a reminder of the hope that we have even when our surroundings seem dim.

A Light Has Dawned (12-05-2020)

As we observe the Advent season together this year, we celebrate the arrival of the Jesus Christ, the self-proclaimed Light of the World. As the prophet Isaiah wrote, His coming would signify a new dawn for those who had been living in a land of deep darkness. As many of us find ourselves looking at a world around us that seems dark, let us celebrate both the hope that we have and the hope that is still to come.

The Light of the World is Born (12-12-2020)

Have you ever noticed that the darker the night, the brighter the stars shine? Advent reminds us that the light that was awaited has now come. This week we take a look at how that arrival was initially announced.

Passing the Light (12-19-2020)

There's a saying that goes "you can't lead someone where you haven't been." How can we share a light in the darkness with others unless we hold it ourselves? This week we take a look at what it means to both hold the light and pass it on to others.

Christmas Eve 2020 (12-24-2020)

This year, since we cannot gather together in person we have put together the following Virtual Worship Gathering for our families to use as part of their Christmas celebrations within their families and missional communities. Enjoy a reading of the Christmas story, as well as some carol sing-a-longs while knowing that around Hampton Roads your Awaken family is doing the same. Merry Christmas!

When the Christmas Lights Come Down (01-02-2021)

When the trees and lights are gone and the symbols that remind us to be joyful have come down, how can we keep the wonder and joy we find during the Advent season?
