Here are a few answers to some questions you may have about our decision to resume meeting together in person once a month for worship:

Why once a month?

The decision to begin by meeting once a month for worship is based on a few factors.

First, meeting once a month will give us greater flexibility to monitor for potential spikes in Covid positivity rates without having to cancel worship gatherings as we continue to monitor that data moving forward.

Second, we care deeply about our volunteers and understand that most of us have had our life rhythms changed drastically over the last year. This allows for a slower "ramp up" for our volunteers to adjust these rhythms as needed.

Finally, Awaken is a missional community church and over the last year, as you would expect, much energy and resources have been invested into our MCs as they have adapted to discipling and shepherding without the presence of a weekly, in-person gathering. As we now begin to reintegrate it, we do not want to see that investment be suddenly redirected back into the worship gathering. In slowly reintegrating these gatherings, our hope is we can continue to see that investment into MCs remain as we slowly add the gatherings back in.

will there be differences?

Yes, some things will look different. In order for you to know exactly what you can expect, you can view the video below that outlines those differences in more detail.

what about our virtual worship gatherings?

We understand that just because we are reintegrating in-person gatherings, not every member of our community will feel comfortable joining us in person.

For those in our community who are more physically vulnerable, or for those who simply do not yet feel comfortable joining us, we do not want you to feel pressured to do so.

We will be posting elements from the in-person gatherings to our YouTube, Facebook, and website just as we have been for our virtual worship gatherings every week. Likewise, the weeks of the month that we are not meeting in person, we will continue to post virtual worship gatherings as we have over the past year.

It is important to us that no one feel pressured to join or excluded if they choose not to do so. However, for those who have been anticipating being able to join together in person once again, we are excited to see you!
