Soccer Camp 2018 Invite.jpg

It's that time of year again! Time to get signed up for this year's Soccer Camp! This is Awaken's 10th year holding this free camp for the community and it continues to grow and improve every single year! It is great for teaching the basics at younger ages, as well as refining skills at the older ages.

The camp is completely free and runs from 6:30 - 7:30pm from Monday July 9th - Thursday July 12th at Williams Farm Park in Virginia Beach. It's a great way to keep kids active and engaged during the summer! We hope that you will take advantage of it and please share this event with your friends that have kids!

My children have never played soccer before, is this camp for them?

Kids of all experience levels are welcome at the camp, including those who have never played at all! At all age groups, we run games and drills that focus on teaching and reinforcing basic soccer skills like dribbling, passing, and shooting. The older age groups build on those drills and play scrimmage games.

What equipment does my child need to bring?

We do have a number of soccer balls on hand at the camp, but while we increase the number every year they do tend to be in high demand. Because of this, if your child already has a soccer ball he/she is encouraged to bring it. Please make sure it has the child's name clearly written in permanent maker. Shin guards and cleats are not necessary, but permitted if your child already has some.

Am I allowed to drop my children off and come back to pick them up?

No. Parents/guardians must remain on site at all times while their children are participating. For children ages 5+, it is only required that the parent/guardian is on site. For children ages 2-4, however, it is required that the parent/guardian be present with their child and encouraged to participate.

Do you take walk-in registrations the week of camp?

We do! Registration will open at 6:00 pm each day of camp and we accept registrations all the way through the final day. Online registration, however, is strongly encouraged as the check-in process is much easier when your and your child's information is already in our system.

What is the inclement weather procedure/policy?

In case of poor weather/field conditions, we will make a decision by 5:00 pm at the latest and notify everyone if we do not feel we can safely hold camp that day. We will notify all registrants via text message at the number you use to register, and also on the camp event page on Facebook. Unfortunately, because we only have the field for one week, any days that are cancelled will not be rescheduled.

Why does registration include a photo release statement?

Throughout the week, we take video and photographs that we use to celebrate the event and promote future camps. By registering your child for camp, you are giving us permission to use any photos/video in which he/she may appear for these purposes.
